My First Drinks Night - Oct 28th 2011 @The Golden Gate Hotel

Melbourne Drinks night came around yet again on Oct 28th and I had to go. Having missed two that I had wished to attend before, I was still yet to meet many people who I have spoken to and gotten to really know since joining PP.
A day of excitement and continually changing outfit followed, as I was unable to decide on what to wear. Finally I came to a decision and started on my slow journey to the Golden Gate Hotel.
First stop was to get dinner then into SSX to do my make-up and meet up with a friendly face who was kind enough to offer a carpool with me. Ruprect arrived in no time at all and we quickly headed on our way to having a great night.
On arrival, we quickly noticed where everybody was gathered and excitedly joined them in the dining area. First I greeted those whom I already knew such as Red Had and SvedishChef. Quickly I was introduced to many people who I had not yet met but had spoken to many times. La Cucaracha, Pixel8, Disco Wes, Charlie, Rocket Rod and Old Fossil were among the first I met. I struggled to keep up with who each person was and make mental notes to easily remember them later. By now I have forgotten who I said this to, but I made a mention to a few people that I was sorry if I didn't remember them straight away as I am shocking at remembering large amounts of information in a short time. A witty comment was quick to follow as La Cucaracha mentioned that there would be a pop quiz at 10pm to test my memory. I knew that this was a joke but just a small part of me couldnt be certain that it wasnt actually going to happen.
More people whom I knew and many that I didnt were arriving such as Hannahbbyxx and I soon felt more comfortable. Something was missing though... a drink in my hand! I had been there about half an hour by that point but had neglected to buy the one essential of a "Drinks Night", A DRINK! I quickly hurried to the bar and before I knew it a glass of champagne soon found its way to my lips. Nerves were getting the better of me and I found myself feeling very out of place and intimidated being in a big group of people. The champagne helped but I was still rather shy toward most and unsuccessfully tried to hide wherever possible.
As the night progressed, I became much more relaxed as I met both punters and ladies whom I'd already spoken to. Our gathering rapidly grew and we found ourselves taking over what was a rather cosy sized venue. While chatting with more people such as Mephisto and Davyd, we soon moved to a private function room upstairs. It was absolutely lovely and with plenty of furniture darted around the room, became a great place for yet more introductions.
Many drinks and chats later, I was much more relaxed and soon began to enjoy myself greatly. It felt like each person that I met was an friend who I'd known for years. Conversations and drinks soon flowed rapidly. In4thepunt, Neckron, Mike273273, Johnnoaussie, Miss Winter and many others soon joined the long list of people I had finally met. HellesBelle arrived and the SouthsideX contingency was complete.
Around the room floated the dynamic duo of Estelle and Ellie who I soon met. At this point I must apologize as I become very chatty while admiring Ellie's gorgeous figure and long, flowing chocolate hair. I believe I may now have a bit of a crush on this lovely lady and Ellie may have a headache from listening to me babble. Both girls are very lovely and sociable.
Yet more drinks and a few giggles saw me settle into a very relaxed mood. With it getting rather late by this stage, many began to head home and call it a night. Others such as Red Hat decided that now would be the perfect time to try on my heels and walk around. This created much laughter around the room and proved that many of the punters would be able to become rather convincing working ladies and even very successful "escorts" such as Ruprect!!
Finally the night came to and end with a small group forming outside for one final chat. Overall the night was fantastic and everybody was very welcoming and warm. Great job Rocket Rod on another successful drinks night and I await the next one eagerly.
Sorry to everyone I have not mentioned but there was simply too many people to remember at once... and I am fairly hungover at the moment.
