Icons - a great night at the ballet

The Australian Ballet Company's Opening Night entitled Icons last night was excellent.

My seats were in row F, nice and close to the orchestra pit, but annoyingly not quite in the centre.

The three parts of the performance were, The Display, Gemini and Beyond Twelve were each a sight to behold and yet completely different to each other.

The Display is an australian story about young love in the forest, whereby a group of picknickers are infiltrated by a stranger who immediately takes a shine to the griop's leader's girl and the inevitable fight breaks out. All under the watchfull eyes of a superb lyrebird.

IMHO, the best dancing was in Gemini; the four dancers were like watching liquid flowing from glass to glass in a wonderful performance. I did notice that the lads had their wedding tackle on display and the girls were suitably minimally attired in sheer fitting lycra. The blonde had a great camel toe when facing the audience, truly very sexy!

Beyond Twelve is the australian story of a young male ballet student who at twelve enjoys aussie rules football as well as dancing. He then grows and at eighteen discovers young love, with an hilarious parody of an erection and finally at thirty he is the mature dancer of the company. Great stuff.

I also noticed a rather georgeous young blonde sitting two rows in front of me, she was very friendly with her partner and smiled appealingly to those who stared at her salivating. If she wasn't a WL I 'll eat my shorts!

All in all, a great night, pity about the empty the empty seat beside me, but that is a whole different story.

Ahh yes...the BALLET.

Sir Robert H was one sick fucker... imagine Katherine Hepburn naked with a Lyrebird watching. hence "The Display"

And the "Gemini" is still young, fresh and contemporary since it was created 39 years ago.

Lastly, "Beyond Twelve". I believe that Graeme Murphy's choreography is riveting.

As for the empty seat...Ce La Vie.
